Academy Team Up and Running

Posted on 18 Oct, 2017 in News | Comments Off on Academy Team Up and Running

Park Celtic’s U7 Team continue excellent performances – this time against Terenure Rangers Well done to our U7 team who played with incredible skill this week – practising dribbling and tricks was the order of the day and they did not let the huge crowd down that turned up for this hotly contested match. Terenure had 2 extremely well drilled and skilful teams and we thank them for 4 great matches. Player profiles Éanna O’Keeffe – Dominant display at the heart of Park Celtic’s defence, calm and collected on the ball with a tendency for a crunching tackle or two! Also contributed 2 goals during the day. James O’Brien – The “Cabinteely Messi”.  Some incredible dribbles down each wing with at least 2 nutmegs to his name.  He will be a marked man from here on! Conor Purcell –...

U16Bs – Could they get 3 On The Bounce?

Posted on 25 Sep, 2017 in News | Comments Off on U16Bs – Could they get 3 On The Bounce?

Soccer’s a funny old game and no two matches are ever the same, they’re more like life / box of chocolates……………you know the rest! Having scored a victory at home against St. James Athletic last Sunday week, the boys followed it up with a ‘right old ding-dong’ away to Harolds Cross last Sunday and eventually claimed a 3-0 victory.  As a wise coach once said, ‘Losing is a habit but then, so is winning’.  Kingston Rovers are a great team, they have come from losing league matches and friendlies against us to resoundingly beating us in recent times, in both types of fixtures. Sunday 24th September would see Park Celtic against their adversaries in Stepaside, our own training ground/Kingston home ground. This would be a different game given the surface, then again it would also be a different game given it was...

Future Bright for Under 8s

Posted on 18 Sep, 2017 in News | Comments Off on Future Bright for Under 8s

The Park Celtic Early U8’s kicked off the new season in style with a home derby pitting Park Celtic against Park Celtic. The Early U8’s squad has doubled in size over the summer and the new recruits were well able to hold their own against the more seasoned professionals. We had 24 players, split into 4 evenly matched teams who played 3 short but extremely competitive games. There were several goal-of-the-season contenders, with goals ranging from individual moments of brilliance to some wonderful team goals involving slick one-touch football. The future is certainly bright for this young team, roll on the next...

Under 16Bs Win in the Wind

Posted on 16 Sep, 2017 in News | Comments Off on Under 16Bs Win in the Wind

Searching for a win at the start of the 2nd half of the 2017 season, having lost out to league leaders Dalkey the previous week, Park Celtic U16B team took to their home turf and kicked off on St. Lawrence’s No.1 pitch at the early time of 10:15. A lovely morning, with the first 11 executing the game plan perfectly. Choosing to play into the wind in the first half they held most of the possession, settled into the game quickly with good ball control, tight passing and assaults on the St. James Athletic goal.  Donal Martin (The Wall) between the sticks ensured, as usual, any chances taken by St. James in the first half were snuffed out. Rian Toner and Max Schmidt controlled the left and right back positions solidly and Sam Ryan deflated the St. James attack by...

U12 Semi Humdinger

Posted on 11 Sep, 2017 in News | Comments Off on U12 Semi Humdinger

The progress of this year’s U12 Sunday team has been remarkable. Playing a fluid, tight and fast-paced passing game, the team managed by Terry Byrne and Sean Murphy are joint top of their League on 39 points. Everyone expected a humdinger for the cup semi-final which saw the Park boys pitted against their fierce rivals, Donnycarney Utd at Cabinteely Park on 10 September. A strong westerly gale and a torrential squall 10 minutes into the game made for tricky playing conditions but the boys played their way into the game and had some decent chances in the opening quarter. The reliable back three of Looby, Chorbachi and Murphy were well organised and resisted the early pressure which Donnycarney threw at them. First choice keeper, Daniel Keeley, was commanding in his area as always. The starting midfield quartet of Byrne,...
